1.
Your thoughts about using social media in your classroom.
a.
I think that using social media in the classroom could be interesting
and a good tool depending on the situation. I think it is a great way to use as
a teacher to make a classroom page to help keep parents involved and aware of
what students are doing in the classroom by posting about classroom events and
activities. I have also heard of some platforms that allow teachers to create a
class community for parents and students to post on to show work, or comment
positive thoughts, etc. I think this is great as well. But I do not think that STUDENTS
using typical social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) in the
classroom is a good idea. I think that it provides too much room for negative
incidents.
2.
Ideas you have about using collaborative productivity tools.
a.
I think that collaborative productivity tools could be a great
way to connect students, especially in times like now when students can’t be in
the classroom. I also think it makes group projects much more realistic when
not in the classroom.
3.
Your thoughts on changes to your classroom management that will facilitate
the introduction and integration of more digital tools into your teaching and
your students' learning/work.
a.
I think that in order to have digital tools in the classroom
there needs to be a strict set of rules. I think the rules and regulations
depend greatly upon the class, the age, and the device. But overall, I would
probably implement something along these lines
i. Teacher must know
device password
ii. Device is only to be used when given
permission
iii. Only apps approved may
be on the device
iv. Students may only be
allowed on their own device
v. Cases and other
protective items should be on the device at all times
4.
How have your thoughts and opinions about teaching the new
literacies and integrating technology into your language arts curriculum been
impacted by the things you have learned this semester? Are you more comfortable
(even a little) with the idea of integrating more digital tools into your
school day?
a.
I think that I am more comfortable today with the idea of using
technology in the classroom than I was at the beginning of this semester. I think
I learned a LOT from reading what others had to say. Seeing different perceptions,
or even different wording about the same perception is so informative and
really makes you think.
